Celebrate National Estuaries Week with SPWA
September 18 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
The Paddle has been Cancelled
Saturday September 18th is the first day of National Estuaries Week and Straits Pond Watershed Association is inviting all of you to paddle on the Pond to show your support for our estuary. Most of us will launch at the West Corner tide gate but you can launch from Eastman Rd, off Atlantic or across from Black Rock Beach. Watch where you park since some spots require a Town permit.
We are launching at 8:30 AM on Saturday September 18 to take advantage of a flood tide and the event will be over just before high tide around noon. We will use the Eastman Rd launch site though three other sites are available (see maps below) Parking is available a block away at the Hull DPW.
We will give a narrated tour as we see wildlife and features of the landscape and pond.
All non-motorized watercraft are welcome. Please conform to all Coast Guard regulations and CDC, State and Local COVID guidelines. This is an outdoor event so we will be distanced even when paddling together.
Please note that we have been advised by MA Coastal Zone Management that launching from the Cohasset side of the tide gates is extremely hazardous and must not be used for this event or for private paddling on the Pond.
Join us on the Pond!
